Tulips Etc. (Spring 2010)
Tulips are such a welcome sign of spring each year that I had to study them with my camera. So I went out to my garden today wondering if I could make a whole collection of just tulip images. I just about made it - there are a few strays that made their way in. |

Liquid Light (11/14/2009)
While the subject matter here is just water drops, their endless variety of shapes, patterns, and color fascinate me. Another project I took on with a couple of friends, this took two different sessions and hours and hours of tweaking the staging - but we finally started getting some very interesting images. |

Utah State Fair (9/12/2009)
As I grow older, the normal attractions of the State Fair hold less and less interest for me. But shooting the carnival rides at night provides a great opportunity to experiment with long exposures. It's a chance to "play with light". So I attended this year with a couple of photographer friends and had a blast.

Ballooning - Round Two (9/12/2009)
At the Antelope Island event, weather conditions prevented the balloons from launching. As much fun as we had making images of them on the ground, we wanted some shots of them flying. So we arranged to meet several ballonists who fly out of the American Fork area and try again. Thankfully, the weather cooperated this time! |

Images From My Garden (Summer 2009)
I have a very small garden. So there is not room to plant a big variety of flowers. Still, I enjoy the different flowers that come out during the season. I especially like the detail: their colors, patterns and textures. So I go out from time to time and lose myself in trying to make some nice images... and to enjoy my little garden. |

Antelope Island Balloon and Kite Stampede (09/06/2009)
This was a fun day out and about with some photographer friends. Unfortunately, it was a little too windy for the balloons to actually launch. But we visited with some very interesting balloonists and kite flyers, and got some nice images. Hot air ballons and photographers were meant for each other! |

July 4th Fireworks at Sugarhouse Park (7/04/2009)
I shot some experimental fireworks photographs almost 30 years ago at Sugarhouse park that I have always enjoyed. So I went back this summer to try to create some new, unconventional images. Unfortunately, budget cuts may eliminate many big fireworks displays in the future. |

United Way 9-11 Memorial (9/11/2002)
This was a very powerful, moving event to cover. It marked the one-year anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attack. Many Americans, including Utahns, lost family members on that day. So this day was about coming together as families, as communities and as a nation to mourn, but also to look forward. These images still move me. |
